Employment Law Employment standards Our lawyers regularly assist employers in complying with the often complex and technical requirements of federal and provincial employment standards legislation. This includes: Advice on such issues as hours of work, overtime, public holidays, vacations, pregnancy, parental and emergency leave, successor employer obligations, mass terminations, layoffs, termination and severance pay, and officers' and directors' liabilities Assistance drafting policies and procedures that comply with the legislation Advocacy on behalf of employers before government agencies and tribunals responsible for enforcing employment standards
Employment contracts Members of the firm assist clients by drafting employment contracts and offers of employment for all types of employees, including executives, managers and sales staff. Our lawyers are experienced in drafting and interpreting sophisticated contractual provisions including bonuses, profit sharing, stock options, confidentiality, protection of trade secrets, non-competition, non-solicitation, termination for cause, notice of termination and "golden parachute" clauses.
