Human Rights

Barbara Humphrey has been nationally recognized for her special expertise in workplace human rights. Members of the firm are frequent speakers, prolific authors and leading educators in this important area.

Our goal is to equip clients with the knowledge, tools, strategies and ongoing counsel required to meet evolving equity rights obligations and avoid costly complaints and expanding liabilities.

We represent employers in the formal human rights complaints process. Our expertise and experience with issues involving workplace harassment, the duty to accommodate and employment discrimination enable us to provide our clients with cost-effective and successful resolution of formal and internal human rights complaints.

We provide clients with skilled and experienced investigators to conduct effective investigations into human rights complaints.

Our services include:

  • The provision of effective counsel to support employers' successful management of employment issues consistent with increasingly complex human rights obligations
  • Developing and delivering educational initiatives to position workplace communities to make their necessary contributions to evolving human rights obligations
  • Assisting employers with the development, implementation or review of human rights policies and practices
  • Representing employers in formal human rights complaints processes including investigation, mediation and litigation
  • Setting up systems for internal resolution of complaints
  • Providing clients with skilled and experienced investigators to conduct effective enquiries into human rights complaints.
